University of Peradeniya : Social Work : Field Practicum
Today second year undergraduate students from the University of Peradeniya’s Bachelor of Social Work stream visited us at the Sarvodaya HQ for their field immersion practicum on social work.
Our Director Udesh Fernando opened the proceedings with an interactive co-learning session on the theme Introduction to Sarvodaya’s Community Development Praxis.
The students were then exposed to Specialist Sarvodaya Units through onsite breakout sessions such as Sarvodaya Suwasetha Sewa Society, Sarvodaya Disaster Resilience – Mr Manoj Silva, GNRC Sri Lanka End Child Poverty SDG Academy – Ms Hesha Perera and Hellan Vincy , as well as the Artha Dharma National Secretariat and Deshodaya Movement by Mr Nishantha Preethiraj, Ms Manu Tissera, Mr Mark Perera and Mr Thanura Silva.
The group also had an immersive experience at the Vishva Niketan International Peace & Meditation Centre led by Trustee -Dr Charika Marasinghe with an extended discussion session on Child Protection and challenges at hand in #lka.
The programme concluded with an Unconference session led by our Director including a brief session on Career Guidance.
A huge shoutout to our dedicated team members especially Ms Veruni Upulika and others who helped out in coordination of logistics.
From innovative projects to community engagement initiatives, these programs are a testament to our commitment to making a positive difference in individuals and communities. With great feedback received from students and staff we marked the first Student Exposure Programme at Sarvodaya for the year #2024 with a resounding success.
