Anushka Shyamali serves as the Assistant Director of the Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning (SIHL), bringing nearly fifteen years of rich and diverse experience in the education sector. She is a gold medalist (First Class) graduate with a BA (Honours) in Western Classical Culture from the University of Kelaniya, reflecting strong academic distinction and commitment to scholarly excellence.

Her professional journey spans multiple roles, including school teacher, university lecturer, and administrative registrar, providing her with comprehensive exposure to general education, professional qualifications, and both state and non-state higher education systems, encompassing local and UK qualifications. This breadth of experience has enabled her to develop a well-rounded understanding of academic delivery, institutional governance, and student-centered learning environments.

Anushka’s academic foundation in Western Classical Culture has equipped her with deep insight into the origins of Western thought. Her areas of expertise include the study of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, history, antiquities, art, philosophy, drama and theatre, literature, literary criticism, as well as classical languages such as Greek and Latin. She also values interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives, particularly in relation to Christian Culture, which she approaches as a significant world religion open to learners of all faith traditions.

Guided by a strong educational philosophy, Anushka firmly believes that education is not a commodity but a transformative tool for empowerment, ethical development, and social progress.
