Get to know more on our End Child Poverty initiative as we mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty today, the 1st goal of the Sustainable Development Goals we as a country have committed to. If we need to move forward as a nation is it crucial that we address the grave socio-economic disparities faced by communities due to poverty by advocating for the state to take the necessary initiatives to eradicate poverty and also by mobilizing communities to work together in whatever way possible to uplift those from underprivileged backgrounds. Children are the most vulnerable and affected population of poverty.
Child Poverty deprives children of their childhood and prevents them from thriving and developing according to their maximum potential, placing them in a context that strips them off their opportunities and rights to live a dignified life.
Small steps can create major shifts, so let us take small steps to help underprivileged children to break away from the vicious cycle of poverty. Together we can End child Poverty!
“Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.” –Nelson Mandela
