A Day to Remember: Guided Nature Trail and Home Gardening Workshop at Aloka Academy

On Saturday, 17th May, Aloka Academy proudly hosted a memorable day of learning and connection with nature, bringing together a spirited group of participants for a Guided Nature Trail and Home Gardening Workshop. The event was held at the scenic Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning in Bandaragama Main Campus, where the beauty of the natural surroundings set the perfect stage for an inspiring experience. Sri Lanka Natural History Society members too participated.
The day began with the very first Guided Nature Trail, expertly led by Ms. Dilini Wickremasinghe. Participants explored the lush green trails, discovering the hidden wonders of the forest while gaining insights into local flora and fauna. Dilini’s deep knowledge and passion for the environment made this trail not only educational but also deeply moving for those who joined.
Following this, the participants delved into the world of sustainable living through a hands-on Home Gardening Workshop conducted by Mr. Anuradha Ranasinghe. With practical tips, interactive demonstrations, and valuable guidance, attendees learned how to cultivate their own green spaces — a small but powerful step towards self-sufficiency and eco-conscious living.
The harmony of a serene climate, breathtaking nature, and the genuine enthusiasm of nature-loving individuals created a truly magical atmosphere. It was more than just a workshop — it was a celebration of life, learning, and the environment.
We are certain that the memories and knowledge gained from this day will be cherished by all who attended. Aloka Academy remains committed to fostering a deeper appreciation for nature and empowering communities to live in harmony with it.
Stay tuned for more such meaningful and enriching experiences!
