Field Visit Update – SERELT Program

Field Visit Update – SERELT Program

On 4th July 2025, the SIHL team carried out a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) visit to Badulla and Hatton Regional English Language Resource Centers (RESC) where the SERELT trainings were hosted. This visit marked the final session in Badulla and the penultimate one in Hatton, and gave us the opportunity to sit down with both participants and trainers to reflect on their journey.

We collected feedback through surveys and group discussions with 36 English Language Teachers (ELTs) in Badulla and 43 ELTs in Hatton participated. The conversations were open and insightful. Trainers spoke highly of the participants’ dedication, curiosity, and willingness to learn. On the other hand, the participants expressed deep appreciation for the quality of the curriculum and the engaging cum hands-on approach of the trainers.

Teachers are feeling more confident, more supported, and more excited about what they are taking back to their classrooms.  The SIHL team, is genuinely proud of the progress we have seen. A heartfelt thank you to HSBC Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Education, and the Postgraduate Institute of English (PGIE – OUSL) your belief in this work is making a difference where it matters most.
