Musaeus College L.I.F.E. Program – Educational Excursion to SIHL Main Campus, Bandaragama

On 9th June 2025, 50 students from the Post O/L batch of 2024 of Musaeus College participated in an educational excursion to the Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning, Main Campus, Bandaragama under the L.I.F.E. Program for an engaging day of nature exploration, biodiversity learning, and sustainable development awareness.
A Day of Learning & Discovery
The program began with a welcome and briefing session on the objectives of the visit, focusing on environmental conservation, biodiversity, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students then took part in a guided nature trail, where they observed a variety of plant and animal species, while also learning about the challenges faced in biodiversity conservation.
Following the trail, students shared their observations and reflections over refreshments, connecting their field experiences with global sustainability concepts.
The Self & Nature session encouraged participants to connect with the environment through outdoor therapeutic activities, promoting mindfulness and deeper appreciation of natural spaces. Special emphasis was placed on SDGs helping students understand the interconnectedness between biodiversity and sustainable development.
The day concluded with a reflection and sharing session, where students expressed their learnings, ideas, and personal commitments toward environment & sustainability.
This meaningful experience helped strengthen their awareness of environment, biodiversity, commitment to conservation, and understanding of the role young people play in building a sustainable future.
This educational excursion was not just a field visit, but a transformative experience that encouraged young learners to see themselves as active contributors to a sustainable future. The Musaeus College L.I.F.E. Program continues to inspire students to take meaningful steps toward protecting nature and promoting sustainable practices in their daily lives.
