10th Anniversary Celebrations: End Child Poverty Knowledge Centre
The End Child Poverty Initiative of Arigatou International in partnership with the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement established the End Child Poverty Knowledge Centre (ECPKC), in Sri Lanka in 2014, celebrating the 1st IDEP event. They marked a special milestone as they celebrated their 10th anniversary on 17th October 2024 at the SDGs Model Classroom for Children at Sarvodaya Headquarters in Sri Lanka which is the 10th International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (IDEP).
The ECPKC serves as a physical hub within the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement, focusing on addressing both the human and structural root causes of child poverty. It provides resources while building capacities of faith actors, and organizations on child poverty, particularly in Southeast Asia.
The anniversary event was graced by Rev. Fred Nyabera, Executive Director of Arigatou International – End Child Poverty, Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, Honorary President of Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement, Mrs. Neetha Ariyaratne, Vice President of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement, Ms. Begona Arellano, Deputy Representative from UNICEF, Damith Kulanayake, Executive Director Sarvodaya along with representatives from the Sombor Educational Centre in Serbia, the International Network of Engaged Buddhists, Thailand. The event was colorful with children, their activities and the parents.
